EEG Services
Paediatric EEGs are available at many hospitals, including Sydney Children's Hospital (Randwick), The Children's Hospital at Westmead, and Royal North Shore Hospital. Please note that a referral from a GP or a specialist is required prior to booking an EEG at a hospital.
Private EEGs are available at a number of facilities, including Northern Beaches Neurology, Northern Neuroscience, Westmead Specialists, and Sydney North Neurology and Neurophysiology (16 years and over only). Please note that a referral is not required prior to booking an EEG at a private facility.
Neuroimaging Services
MRIs are available at both public hospitals and private facilities. Many of these can be accessed at the time of your appointment, but it is often helpful to bring your imaging (pictures in addition to the report) with you on the day of your appointment.
Bulk-billing may be available for some private MRIs.
Most children under five require an anaesthetic to enable them to lie still for the duration of an MRI. Such MRIs are performed at public hospitals only, and it is likely the waitlist will be several months.
Wait Times
Please note that for most of our doctors, there is currently a wait time of at least six months for all new patient appointments. To allow us to triage, and to bring forward urgent appointments when we receive a cancellation, please send us a referral at the time of booking.
